#3 I stop to say thank you Mom and Dad

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" -- which is the first commandment with a promise -- that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. ~ Ephesians 6: 1-3

As a son or daughter to our parents, how do we value them as our guardians who raise us up with sacrifices and pains? As their child we never really knew how the way they raise us up. We never knew how painful it is just to provide all our needs and give all our wants. But have we paid them back for all the things that they have done and given to us? Have we said “thank you” to them? Or even made them proud? Hmm. We have to think of it.

Nowadays, teenagers or even older people who still have their parents with them don’t honor their parents anymore. Most of us, youths, no longer have appreciations with all the things that our parents did to us. We don’t even say thank you at all. Honoring  our parents is the greatest gift that we can give to them, showing them how we are blessed to have them as their parents. We have to be thankful to God for giving them to us. We really don’t deserve them but God put us, each one of us, to our own parents. Because there is always a purpose why we have them now as our parents. I know that all our mothers had a great sacifice on giving birth to us. There is a possibility on dying while giving birth that’s why it is a great sacrifice. We have to pay them in return because they deserve it. We have to keep in mind that valuing them is equivalent to glorifing God ‘s name because it is the commandment of God. And it is the FIRST COMMANDMENT. So in all the things that we will do, we have to give our best to make our parents proud. That they may say one day that ‘its all worth it’.

As a daughter of my mother and my father, I committed a  promise to myself that one day I will make them more proud and pay them back in return. After 10 years im gonna show to them how worth their sacrifices were when they were raising me to become a well-disciplined daughter. I will keep their advices because I believe through their advices I will succeed in everything that I do. And it is a gift to follow all their advices because it leads to a prosperous life that we all wanted ever since and also it leads us to God. We must not be ashamed of having them as our parents. We must be proud that we have them and thank God for it.

Through following all their advices is a sign of thankfulness because it shows how they love and care about me. Im giving my best in studying so that I can make them proud. Im thankful because they are my parents. If I will be given a choice to change parents. I will really say no to that because Im already contented having them in my life. And showing them the filial piety of one’s individidual is what I’ve said, a greatest gift that we can offer or give to our parents.
