Having been to a beautiful
place was a privilege and an opportunity for me. Being learned and taught in
their native language was really enjoyable and fun to do. I was so blessed to
be part of my singing group under our church because I was able to go to a very
beautiful and well-disciplined place called Hong Kong. It was a 2-week trip and
I got to roam around and visit the whole city. The itinerary of our trip was
actually to sing. We sang in different churches, schools, parks and even
companies. I got to know more new people who were really pleased with the songs
that we prepared for them. The schools there are really nice also their
students, the students were really approachable and friendly. As a tourist
there, most of the time you have to really limit yourself from being used to
your own ways as a Filipino because you might be judged by the way you walk,
talk, etc when you are with those Chinese people. So we should really act properly
as if we are already citizen there.
I learned
a lot from the people in Hong Kong because they are really disciplined and
respected people. Here in the Philippines time is not really important but
there, when they tell you that you have to be in the meeting at exactly 8:00
SHARP, you have to be there otherwise you might be scolded. It’s nice because it’s
a challenging role for all of us because we are learning from their culture
that really helps to change our own perspective in life also as a human being. I
was not used to it but I learned a lot. That’s the only thing that really
matters.
We exposed ourselves as a singing group to be able to learn
how to face different people. It was kind of hard because every day I have to
wake up in the morning just because of the appointment that we need to sing for
the students, old ones, etc. when we got there the host already scheduled us
what we are going to do, where to sing, and where to eat. Our group was always
in a hurry because we have to always remember that the time there is really
gold. We were always in a rush; we always run and of course always practice our
pieces. As a member of the group, I really had to be flexible in order to
easily cope up with them because of being the youngest. I always had to respect
them because they are the old ones. I always follow them whatever happens. They
were times that we had conflicts, arguments, problems and cold wars and I think
it’s normal, it usually happens this anywhere or I may say to anybody. When there
are times like this come, as a group we should find time that we need to plan
for a meeting in order to fix the problem. And because of that we built a
strong foundation. I was so amazed with all the things that happened in my
life. As a youth I am really blessed by God. And by the way we had 46 performances
in just two weeks. And with that I end. J
